At an abandoned construction site in East Durham, volunteers from the British Horse Society discovered a filthy, emaciated horse they thought was dead. Miraculously, she was alive. Named Heidi, the horse had endured severe neglect and couldn’t even stand. Rescuers from Here4Horses acted quickly, lifting her and beginning intensive care. Her condition was critical—plasma transfusions, treatment for infections, and months of recovery were needed. Despite the odds, Heidi survived. Today, she’s thriving, healthy, and full of life, winning awards and living happily—thanks to her resilience and the dedicated efforts of her rescuers.
